Nittany Lions beat Iowa, Monmouth in men’s tennis

No. 33 Penn State earned a pair of wins Sunday, beating No. 60 Iowa 4-0 and Monmouth 6-1.

In the first match, the Nittany Lions cruised past the Hawkeyes. Penn State’s Leo Stakhovsky, Constant De La Bassetiere, Matt Barry and Tomas Hanzlik each won their singles matches, and the teams of Stakhovsky and Barry and Matt Galush and De La Bassetiere won their doubles matches.

Against Monmouth, Penn State swept doubles play with wins by David Kohan and Christian Lutschaunig, Galush and De La Bassetiere and Roman Trkulja and Ben Lieb. Stakhovsky, Kohan, Zach Lieb, Aws Laaribi and Nika Dolidze each won in singles.

The Nittany Lions (17-4, 3-2) return to action at Purdue on Friday at 6 p.m.
