EIVA champion George Mason (18-11), which clinched its first league title and NCAA berth since 1988 at Rec Hall on Saturday, is seeded sixth and will meet MIVA champion and No. 3 seed Ohio State (28-2), in a play-in match. The Buckeyes are in the tournament for the first time since 2011, when they won the title in Rec Hall the last time it hosted the championships.
The other play-in match will feature Conference Carolinas champion Erskine (20-6) and Long Beach State (24-7). The 49ers, like UCLA, received at-large bids while the other four teams earned automatic bids. The play-in matches will be played May 3, semifinals May 5 and the title match May 7.
