Penn State’s Mike Watkins posting impressive numbers despite inconsistency

Like his fellow first-year teammates, Mike Watkins has been inconsistent.

“You just wish, give us both halves, give us that consistency, give us that dominant post player that we really need at this point,” Chambers said. “And he’ll get there.”

He has been dominant at times, putting up some impressive numbers.

In the loss to Pitt, he grabbed the most rebounds (15) by a Penn State player since 2006 when Geary Claxton finished with 15 against Purdue.

A week earlier, Watkins recorded eight blocks in a win over Wright State. Calvin Booth is the only other player in program history to reach that mark in a game. Booth, who played at Penn State from 1995-99, had eight or more blocks in nine games during his career.
