The Big Ten unveiled its season schedule Thursday night, and a pair of top-10 teams will be among the first three opponents for Penn State.
The Nittany Lions will tip off their conference schedule by spending New Year’s Eve in Madison, Wis., to meet the No. 4 Badgers. Penn State will then meet one of the Big Ten’s newest members on Jan. 3, visiting Rutgers, before playing No. 6 Michigan in the Big Ten home opener Jan. 6.
Those games will be followed by a visit to Indiana (Jan. 13), hosting Purdue (Jan. 17) and a trip to Michigan State (Jan. 21) to finish a run of four of the first six conference games on the road, and Rutgers visits Jan. 24. The Nittany Lions meet the other new conference team Feb. 4, visiting Maryland, and host the Terrapins Feb. 14.
Other home games include Minnesota (Jan. 28), Nebraska (Feb. 7), Wisconsin (Feb. 18), Iowa (Feb. 28) and Ohio State (March 4). Other road trips are at Illinois (Jan. 31), Ohio State (Feb. 11), Northwestern (Feb. 21) and the regular season closes at Minnesota (March 8).
The Big Ten tournament tips off in Chicago’s United Center from March 11-15. Penn State begins its regular season Nov. 14, hosting Morgan State.
