Penn State announced Thursday night that guard Geno Thorpe will not return to the program.
“We thank Geno for his two years at Penn State and wish him well,” coach Patrick Chambers said in a statement.
The university gave no other explanation for the departure of the product of Shaler High School in Pittsburgh.
Thorpe started 17 games and averaged 8.7 points, fourth on the team and third among those expected to return, and 2.6 rebounds as a sophomore last season. He also was third on the team with 43 assists and second with 38 steals.
Thorpe, who was also a top defender for the Nittany Lions, played in 66 games and averaged 6.0 points and 2.1 rebounds in two seasons.
