Penn State continues to rise in AP college football rankings after win over Northwestern

After beginning the season unranked, Penn State has moved all the way into the top 10 of the latest Associated Press college football rankings.

The undefeated Nittany Lions climbed one spot to No. 10 after Saturday’s 17-7 win over Northwestern at a rainy Beaver Stadium. The team is entering its bye week and returns to the field Oct. 15 at Michigan.

There was a shakeup at the top of the AP poll, with Alabama and Georgia swapping places. The teams are separated by just two voting points. Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson held their positions to round out the top five.

Kentucky and Washington took the biggest slides, with both teams dropping six spots after losses. Meanwhile, Wake Forest made the biggest jump, rising seven places after defeating Florida State.

Penn State is 75 voting points ahead of No. 11 Utah and 109 points behind No. 9 Ole Miss.

The Big Ten has three teams in the poll: Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. The complete rankings can be found below:
