Penn State football: Quarterback Tyler Ferguson granted release from Nittany Lions program

Former junior college quarterback Tyler Ferguson is on the move again.

Ferguson, who enrolled at Penn State in January after a year at College of the Sequoias, has been granted his release from the Penn State football team, the university confirmed Wednesday.

He will seek a transfer. Ferguson could not be reached and calls to his home in Bakersfield, Calif., were not returned.

Ferguson joined the Nittany Lions with hopes of winning the starting quarterback job but was beaten out by true freshman Christian Hackenberg in training camp.

Ferguson saw limited action during his short time at Penn State and played in just four games. He saw his most extended playing time against Ohio State, completing seven of 11 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown.

He also played against Syracuse, Eastern Michigan and Kent State and finished the season 10 of 15 passing for 155 yards.
