Penn State football: Urschel named first-team Academic All-American

Penn State’s John Urschel was selected to the Capital One Academic All-American First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. It is the second time Urschel has been elected to the CoSIDA All-American first team.

Urschel is a 4.0 GPA student, has a master’s degree in math and is working toward another master’s in math education. He is Penn State’s 11th player to earn first-team Academic All-America honors twice.

Penn State leads the nation with 18 Academic All-Americans over the past eight seasons including 16 who were elected to the first team.
