Penn State football: Variable ticket pricing structure revealed

Penn State announced Tuesday a variable pricing structure for single-game football tickets for the upcoming season.

The new pricing structure is tiered based on Penn State’s opponent. Upper deck seats at Beaver Stadium will cost $100 for the Ohio State game while the same seats are as low as $40 for non-conference games against Akron and UMass.

It will cost a fan $200 for midfield, lower-bowl seats against the Buckeyes while those same seats are $140 against Akron, UMass, Maryland and Temple.

“We have been listening to our fans and as a result will extend a variable pricing structure for football for the first time this season,” Penn State Athletic Director Dave Joyner said. “This structure provides more pricing choices to accommodate rising travel costs and tightening family budgets, while also ensuring that our season ticket holders are receiving a great value for their loyalty and support.”

Similar variable pricing structures are used by other Big Ten schools such as Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa and Maryland.
