Penn State football: Highly-touted California safety commits to Nittany Lions

New Penn State football coach James Franklin continued to land recruits Saturday as highly touted safety/linebacker Koa Farmer from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif.

Farmer, a 6-foot-1, 200-pounder, decommitted from California, where he had been an oral commitment since his junior season. Farmer was part of a huge recruiting weekend that Franklin and his newly announced staff conducted to try to fill out the recruiting class before national signing day opens Feb. 5.

Farmer is rated a four-star prospect by He has been rated among the top 15 safeties in the country and among the top 25 players in California.

Farmer announced his decision via Instagram saying, “I am blessed to announce that I will be ending the recruiting process and attend Penn State University where I will become Dr. Farmer and fulfill my dream of becoming a P.H.D in Pathology!”
