Penn State football: Nittany Lions add, subtract before signing-day festival

Penn State added and subtracted football recruits with just hours left before National Letter of Intent Day.

Three-star safety Christian Campbell from Phenix City, Ala., committed to Penn State on Monday evening to push the Nittany Lions’ 2014 recruiting class to 24 players.

That followed Lloyd Tubman’s decommittment.

Tubman, who previously said he would follow James Franklin from Vanderbilt to Penn State, told 24-7 Sports that he will choose among Kentucky, Nebraska and Penn State, and make his final decision on Wednesday.

Penn State will host “The Signature Event” at the Bryce Jordan Center on Wednesday to celebrate the most recent recruiting class. Franklin will speak in addition to former Penn State players LaVar Arrington and Michael Mauti.

They’ll likely get a chance to talk about Campbell. The sixth defensive back in the current class and third player who projects as a safety, is listed at 6-feet, 181 pounds by 24-7 Sports. will carry a 4 p.m. press conference live, as Franklin discusses the recruiting class, and will provide full coverage of the signing program.

"The Signature Event" begins at 6 p.m. at the BJC and is open to the public with a $5 admission fee. Penn State students will be admitted free with proper ID.
