Penn State football: Intramural fields closed for Saturday’s game due to weather, parking affected

Due to consistent rain through the week of Penn State’s sellout game against Army West Point on Saturday at noon and the upcoming forecast, approximately 2,900 vehicles will be re-directed to other parking lots as the intramural fields around Beaver Stadium will be closed.

The athletic department announced Thursday that the impending traffic would have the potential to “significantly damage” the fields with fall intramural sports still in progress for Penn State students.

The change affects less than 10 percent of grass parking spaces. The change will also not affect paved spots. Yellow Lot 12, the Brown and Family Friendly lots will be closed, according to a release from Penn State Athletics.

Yellow Lot 12 patrons will be re-directed to another lot. Fans who normally park in this lot should approach the campus from the east on Park Avenue, off I-99/U.S. Route 322 or from the south on Porter Road, off Route 26/College Avenue.

Brown parking passes will be accepted in the Orange lot. Cars should approach the Orange lot from the east on Park Avenue, off I-99/U.S. Route 322.

Family Friendly lot patrons should park in their regularly issued parking permit location.
