Tips to win

For Penn State: If both feature backs in Akeel Lynch and Saquon Barkley are out, quarterback Christian Hackenberg has to show consistency and spark in the air, and improve on a 30-percent third down conversion rate, and the Nittany Lions must continue solid defensive play.

For Indiana: Bring the pressure. If Barkley isn’t in to balance the Penn State attack, a loaded box and heavy pressure on Hackenberg will give the Hoosiers — who have yet to win in Beaver Stadium — a shot to win.

Nittany Lion to watch: Indiana and Penn State alike will be on “Saquon Barkley Watch” this Saturday — if the true freshman plays, after sitting last week with an apparent ankle injury, he could be the deciding offensive factor.

Hoosier to watch: Both of Indiana’s quarterbacks are unique in their skill sets, and both could very well see time. Starter Nate Sudfeld is nursing an ankle injury, but is as consistent a passer as they come, while backup Zander Diamont, the self-titled “Menace from Venice,” gave Ohio State fits with his dual-threat ability last week.
