Christian Hackenberg gets NFL call while playing cornhole game in backyard
If there’s anything that sums up former Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg perfectly, it’s this.
The 21-year-old was picked up by the New York Jets in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night, and the pickup-driving Virginia native was in his backyard playing a game of cornhole — or “bags” or “baggos” depending on which part of the country you’re from — when he got the call.
His private coach, Jordan Palmer, posted a photo on his Instagram page of the, ah, “wild” action:
Of course, Hackenberg got plenty excited when the phone call did come:
The young quarterback will join veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, a free agent who the Jets hope to re-sign to a one-year deal to mentor Hackenberg, as well as Geno Smith and Bryce Petty.
