Tickets for the second season of Penn State men’s ice hockey at Pegula Ice Arena proved to be even hotter than the first season, completely disappearing just minutes after sales began.
One year ago, the line for student season tickets wound through and outside the HUB Robeson Center.
With sales exclusively online this year, the nearly 1,000 student season tickets avalailable were snapped up in just three minutes for the Nittany Lions’ season, which opens Oct. 10-11 hosting Connecticut.
Student sales were opened at 7 a.m. Thursday for 14 of the 18 scheduled home dates.
“Penn State students comprise the most energized and passionate fan base in collegiate athletics,” coach Guy Gadowsky said. “We’re extremely appreciative of their continued support, along with the raucous atmosphere they help provide during games at Pegula Ice Arena. The coaches, staff and team are excited to see a packed Roar Zone for the first of many times Oct. 10.”
Tickets for home series against Big Ten opponents Ohio State and Michigan are not part of the student season package, with those games set during winter and spring breaks, respectively.
Single-game tickets to the general public for the series against the Buckeyes go on sale Wednesday, while tickets for the series against the Wolverines go on sale in January.
Season tickets for the rest of the arena went on sale earlier this year, with 95 percent of the seats renewed from last season.
Penn State brings back 98 percent of its scoring from last seaon’s 8-26-2 team, with 24 returning letterwinners on a 27-man roster.
