Penn State women’s ice hockey: Nittany Lions down St. Cloud State

Shannon Yoxheimer scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the Penn State women’s hockey team rebounded from a season-opening loss to defeat St. Cloud State 3-2 on Saturday at Minnesota’s Ridder Arena.

The Nittany Lions, who lost their season opener 8-0 to No. 1 Minnesota on Friday, rallied from a 2-1 deficit against St. Cloud State. Yoxheimer tied the score on a power play goal in the second period. She scored the game-winner 6 1/2 minutes into the third period off a pass from Hannah Bramm.

Amy Peterson also scored for Penn State, which was outshot 31-24. Hannah Ehresmann had 29 saves.

Molly Illikainen and Payge Pena scored for St. Cloud State (0-2).
