Penn State women’s hockey: Nittany Lions hold off Princeton

Amy Petersen scored a pair of first-period goals and Penn State held on for a 2-1 victory over Princeton at Pegula Ice Arena on Sunday night.

Petersen scored on a power play 5:38 into the game on assists from Kelly Seward and Bella Sutton. She scored her sixth goal of the season on an assist from Hannah Hoenshall 1:49 before the end of the period.

From there, Penn State (3-2-2) turned to goalie Celine Whitlinger, who turned back 29 shots.

Cristin Shanahan scored a goal in the third period for Princeton (0-1-0).

The two teams play again at 4 p.m. Monday.
