Penn State women’s hockey: Nittany Lions drop College Hockey America opener to Syracuse

Penn State dropped its opening game of the season in College Hockey America play, falling 3-1 to Syracuse on Friday.

With her team-leading seventh goal of the season, Amy Petersen accounted for Penn State’s lone goal, with assists from Laura Bowman and Bella Sutton on a power play.

Kaillie Goodnough, Julie Knerr and Allie Lacombe netted goals for the Orange (2-4-4, 1-0 CHA).

Celine Whitlinger made 31 saves for the Nittany Lions (3-4-2, 0-1).

The teams meet again Saturday.
