Penn State women’s hockey: Nittany Lions finish off sweep of Colgate

The Penn State women’s hockey team continued its hot play Saturday evening.

Laura Bowman scored two second-period goals to give the Nittany Lions a sweep of its two-game weekend series with Colgate with a 3-1 win.

Coupled with Friday’s 6-4 win, it gave Penn State its first weekend sweep in the program’s three-season history.

Sarah Nielsen added an empty-net goal in the final minute, while Hannah Ehresmann made 21 saves for the Nittany Lions, who held a 28-22 shot advantage.

Annika Zalewski gave the Raiders an early lead before Bowman netted the first of her scores with a power play goal midway through the second period.

Shannon Yoxheimer, Amy Petersen and Kelly Seward picked up assists for the Nittany Lions (5-4-3), who travel to Rochester, N.Y., next weekend to meet RIT.
