Penn State women’s hockey: Nittany Lions edge RIT in overtime

Caitlin Reilly scored two goals including the game-winner in overtime Saturday as Penn State earned a weekend split of its series at Rochester Institute of Tecnology with a 3-2 victory Saturday.

Laura Bowman and Amy Petersen set up Reilly’s winner with 1:58 left in the extra period to give the Nittany Lions (6-5-3, 1-2-1) their first overtime triumph since Jan. 11, when they beat Colgate, and their first College Hockey America win of the season.

Bella Sutton forced the extra period with a 5-on-3 power play score early in the third period. Shannon Yoxheimer and Kelly Seward assisted on that score, and Petersen and Remi Martin helped on Reilly’s first-period goal.

Jess Paton and Celeste Brown scored for the Tigers (6-5-3, 1-2-1).

Hannah Ehresmann made 26 saves in net for the Nittany Lions, who outshot RIT 31-28 and return home next weekend to host Lindenwood Friday and Saturday.
