Penn State women’s hockey: Ohio State blanks Nittany Lions

Six different Ohio State players scored a goal as the Buckeyes completed a weekend sweep with a 6-0 women’s hockey victory against Penn State.

The contest was tight through one period. Dani Sadek scored with just under two minutes remaining to put Ohio State (12-8-2) ahead.

The Buckeyes took control in the second period, outshooting the Nittany Lions 14-7. Julia McKinnon, Julianna Iafallo and Danielle Gagne each scored even-strength goals.

Lauren Spring scored a power play goal early in the third period to push the score to 5-0, Taylor Kuehl capped the scoring 6:41 into the final 20 minutes.

Ohio State finished with a 33-23 edge in shots. Hannah Ehresmann stopped 27 shots for the Nittany Lions, while Kassidy Sauve had 23 saves for Ohio State.

Shannon Yoxheimer led the Nittany Lions offensively with six shots on net. In the first game of the weekend against the Buckeyes, Penn State tallied just nine shots.

Penn State returns to action Jan. 17 and 18 with a weekend home series against RIT.
