Penn State and Syracuse each scored a goal in the first and third periods of a 2-2 tie Friday night at Pegula Ice Arena.
Penn State’s Emily Laurenzi found the back of the net 4:06 into the third period to tie it 2-2. Laurenzi’s goal came just more than a minute after Syracuse’s Melissa Piacentini put the Orange up 3-2.
Caitlin Reilly gave the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead 5:29 into the game. Alysha Burriss scored Syracuse’s first goal 11 minutes later.
Syracuse outshot Penn State 5-0 in overtime. Penn State goalie Celine Whitlinger finished with 40 saves.

Penn State (13-10-4) hosts Syracuse again at 2 p.m. Saturday.
