Penn State women’s hockey: Nittany Lions top Syracuse

The Penn State women’s hockey team scored three goals in a three-minute span in the second period of its 4-2 win over Syracuse at Pegula Ice Arena on Saturday.

Hannah Hoenshell, Laura Bowman and Hannah Bramm each found the back of the net to push the Nittany Lions ahead 3-0. Syracuse’s Allie LaCombe got the Orange on the board late in the second period.

Stephanie Grossi pulled Syracuse (6-13-9) within 3-2 in the third period before Emily Laurenzie notched the game’s final score.

Penn State goalie Celine Whitlinger recorded 34 saves. The Nittany Lions (14-10-4) are in second place in College Hockey America, one point behind Mercyhurst.

Penn State plays at Lindenwood on Friday and Saturday.
