The Penn State women’s hockey team earned its first postseason win in program history Friday, skating to a 1-0 victory over Lindenwood at Pegula Ice Arena in the first round of the College Hockey America tournament.

The Nittany Lions (16-15-4, 9-9-2) can wrap up the best-of-three series in Saturday’s 2 p.m. contest. The winner heads to Mercyhurst on March 6.

Celine Whitlinger made 23 saves for the shutout, and Shannon Yoxheimer accounted for the lone goal.

“It feels really awesome because it’s what we’ve been working for,” Yoxheimer said. “It shows that we’re getting so much better every single year and it’s a big step for the program.”
