Penn State men’s hockey: Television program earns media award

The Penn State men’s hockey program was the subject of a Sports Video Group and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics College Sports Media Award on Thursday.

The honor was presented to Mind Over Media for “The Penn State Hockey Story” for the second straight year.

The series won the CSMA Program Series category in the Regional/Local/Conference Digital Network division. Last year, Mind Over Media teamed up with Penn State to produce “Hockey Valley: The Opening of Pegula Ice Arena,” which earned the Outstanding Program Series honor.

The 2014 College Sports Media Awards represented the best in class from an array of college athletic and academic departments, as well as professional networks, production companies and student productions. The nominees were spread across four divisions in 16 categories.

The behind-the-scenes digital series documented the 2014-15 Nittany Lions from opening night until the final horn. The 11 episodes showcased features, series recaps, special occasions and all that went on during the third season of Nittany Lion hockey.
