The Penn State hockey team and community has rallied in support of senior center Eric Scheid, with the news of his father’s passing on Monday.
Jim Scheid, who passed away three days before his 58th birthday after a long fight with cancer, was also a collegiate hockey player, winning the 1977 National Championship with Wisconsin.
Jim Scheid wore No. 23 in college, and Eric Scheid announced on Tuesday that he would change from the No. 19 he wore the last two seasons as a Nittany Lion to his father’s No. 23 to honor his memory.
