Penn State was shut out by No. 1 Minnesota on Friday night 5-0 at the Pegula Ice Arena.
Sophomore goalie Hannah Ehresmann had 33 saves in the loss.
“There are a couple of takeaways from an instant look at today’s game from my perspective as a coach,” head coach Josh Brandwene said. “We’re always going to try to build on the positives.”
Minnesota outshot the Nittany Lions 17-1 in the first period, and took a 2-0 lead. The Gophers tallied two more scores in the second period, and netted their final goal with just five minutes elapsed in the third period.

Neither team managed to score off a combined seven power play attempts.
Penn State next hits the road to meet No. 8 Boston for two games starting Friday.
