Penn State women’s hockey: Penn State upsets Boston

Penn State struck for three early goals and earned its third win over a ranked team in program history 5-3 over No. 7 Boston University on Friday night.

Laura Bowman started the run 43 seconds into the game, with Emily Laurenzi and Bella Sutton adding goals in the first 10:14 of action. Hannah Hoenshell and Christi Vetter netted the other goals for the Nittany Lions (1-2), who were outshot 41-26.

Celine Whitlinger made 38 saves in the victory.

Sarah Lefort, Victoria Bach and Rebecca Russo scored for the Terriers.

The teams tangle again Saturday.
