Penn State women’s hockey: Penn State thumps Union

Penn State dominated Union 3-0 Saturday night at Pegula Ice Arena.

The Nittany Lions outshot the Dutchwomen 44-11 as Celine Whitlinger made 11 saves for the shutout in the team’s first home win of the season.

Hannah Hoenshell scored the only goal the team needed 11:36 into the contest, with help from Shannon Yoxheimer and Victoria Samuelsson on a power play.

Yoxheimer and Laura Bowman added the other goals in the second period, with Samuelsson, Meike Meilleur and Amy Petersen picking up assists.

The teams meet again at 2 p.m. Sunday.
