Boston College’s second-leading scorer, Stephanie McCaffrey, has been suspended for tonight’s NCAA second-round women’s soccer game at Penn State because of her remarks on her Twitter account.
The sophomore forward, who has nine goals and six assists this season, posted numerous jokes referencing child rape and former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky. The comments have since been taken down.
In a statement released late Thursday, athletic director Bob Bates said, “The student-athlete used very poor judgment and exhibited insensitivity towards Penn State for which she apologizes. This type of behavior is not tolerated among our student-athletes.”
