Penn State men’s soccer: Nittany Lions post another shutout, drop Bucknell

The Penn State men’s soccer team made a successful trip up State Route 45 on Wednesday night.

Mikey Minutillo and Brian James scored the goals and Andrew Wolverton posted yet another shutout as the No. 4 Nittany Lions stopped Bucknell 4-0 on Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium.

Wolverton made six saves in earning his seventh shutout of the season and 30th of his career for Penn State (9-0-1), which is off to its best start since 1984. As a team the Lions have allowed just three goals all season with eight shutouts, and have not trailed in any game.

Drew Klingenberg chipped a pass from the end line to Minutillo, who netted his fifth goal of the season from 12 yards out 16:31 into the game.

James added the insurance goal, his first score of the season, with 2:42 left, volleying in a cross from Randy Falk.

The Nittany Lions, who outshot the Bison 20-13, hosts Rutgers at Jeffrey Field on Saturday night.
