Penn State men’s soccer: Nittany Lions blank Rutgers

Connor Maloney snapped a scoreless tie with 11 1/2 minutes remaining as No. 4 Penn State remained unbaten with a 1-0 Big Ten triumph over Rutgers on Saturday at Jeffrey Field.

The Nittany Lions (10-0-1 overall, 4-0-0 Big Ten) dominated the contest, outshooting the Scarlet Knights (3-5-1, 1-2-1) by a 22-5 margin. Maloney, who had received a yellow card 10 minutes earlier, took a long feed from Brian James, made a touch around diving Rutgers goalie to score his eighth of the season.

Andrew Wolverton made two saves as he recorded his 31st career shutout.
