Elizabeth Ball’s first goal of the season lifted No. 7 Penn State to a 2-1 triumph over Michigan State on Sunday.
The Nittany Lions (14-2-0 overall, 9-1 Big Ten) trailed early. Megan Marsack put the Spartans (9-6-1, 3-6-1) ahead with a goal 191/2 minutes into the contest.
Kori Chapic’s goal about 17 minutes later drew the Nittany Lions even before the half. Ball’s game-winner came 231/2 minutes into the second half on an assist from Emily Ogle.
Penn State held edges in shots (20-9) and corner kicks (6-1). Britt Eckerstrom had three saves, while Haleigh Eichard added an assist.
Penn State next faces Nebraska at 7 p.m. Friday at Jeffrey Field.
