Penn State soccer: Nittany Lions fall to West Virginia for third straight loss

The No. 12 Penn State men’s soccer team lost its third straight game Wednesday night, falling 2-1 to West Virginia at Jeffrey Field.

West Virginia’s Andy Bevin scored both goals to lead the Mountaineers to the win. Bevin found the back of the net on a penalty kick to give West Virginia a 2-1 lead at the 69:13 mark.

Bevin’s first goal came off an assist from Paul Ehrenworth and tied the game 1-1 at the 61:47 mark. Penn State took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Connor Maloney nearly 14 minutes earlier.

The Nittany Lions (10-3-1) outshot West Virginia 14-11.

Lee Johnston made two saves for the Mountaineers (7-6-1).

Penn State started the year undefeated through 11 games before dropping its last three.

The Nittany Lions host Wisconsin on Sunday at 2 p.m.
