Penn State women’s soccer: No. 7 Nittany Lions handle Nebraska

The Penn State women’s soccer team scored less than four minutes into action Friday night and never trailed at Jeffrey Field.

The No. 7 Nittany Lions earned their third straight win and 12th in the last 13 games with a 3-1 victory over Nebraska.

Mallory Weber scored the early goal just 3:55 into action, with Frannie Crouse and Haleigh Echard adding the other scores for Penn State (15-2, 10-1 Big Ten).

A long ball from Kori Chapic, with a quick diagonal relay from Emily Hurd, set up the first goal, the sixth of the season for Weber. Chapic and Hurd also set up Echard’s goal in the final minute of the night and Whitney Church assisted on Crouse’s team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Mayme Conroy netted the score for the Cornhuskers (7-8-2, 3-6-2), who were outshot 15-9. Britt Eckerstrom did not make a save in the win.

The Nittany Lions will host Iowa on Sunday for Senior Day.
