Penn State goalie Andrew Wolverton was invited to the Major League Soccer combine.
The senior will be one of 55 college athletes at the event in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from Jan. 8-13, as coaches from all 20 MLS teams judge the talent in preparation for the league’s superdraft on Jan. 15. Wolverton is one of a half-dozen Big Ten players invited to the annual combine.
The four-year starter combleted a record-setting career with the program’s career marks for shutours (32) and goals-against average (0.53), and is fourth in saves (225). He had 64 saves and a 0.90 goals-agaainst average this season as the Nittany Lions fell to Syracuse in the NCAA’s second round.
