Two more Penn State products have a chance to play in the FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer.
Former Nittany Lion defender Carmelina Moscato and goalkeeper Erin McLeod were named to the Canadian national team Monday. Both were members of Team Canada’s bronze-medal winning team at the 2012 Olympics, Moscato has appeared in two previous World Cups and McLeod has been a part of three World Cup tournaments.
Moscato was a Nittany Lion from 2002-05, and McLeod from 2004-05, both helping the team advance to an undefeated season and a trip to the College Cup semifinals.
Team Canada, which is hosting this year’s tournament opens the World Cup against China on June 6 in Edmonton, Alberta.
They follow former Nittany Lions Ali Krieger and Alyssa Naeher being named to the U.S. roster earlier in April, and current Penn State midfielder Raquel Rodriguez is expected to be part of the Costa Rican team this summer.
