Former Penn State men’s soccer goalkeeper Andrew Wolverton signed with the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer on Tuesday.
Wolverton was selected by the Galaxy in the fourth round of the MLS SuperDraft in January. He worked through rehab of a foot injury and first trained with LA on May 12. After signing Tuesday, he is on the active roster.
Wolverton was a four-year starter at Penn State and left as the program’s all-time leader in shutouts with 32 and goals against average at 0.53. He also finished fourth all-time in saves with 225.
Wolverton made 64 saves and recorded nine shutouts in 2014, helping lead the Nittany Lions to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
