Penn State picked 8th in conference’s preseason poll

Penn State was ranked eighth out of nine teams in the Big Ten men’s soccer preseason coaches poll released on Wednesday.

Maryland was picked as the No. 1 team, followed by Indiana and Ohio State. No. 4 Rutgers, No. 5 Michigan, No. 6 Michigan State, No. 7 Wisconsin and No. 9 Northwestern rounded out the poll.

Penn State goalie Evan Finney, midfielder Connor Maloney and midfielder Robby Sagel were among the players included on the conference’s preseason honors list.

The Nittany Lions open the season at Stanford on Aug. 26.
