Deja McClendon led a balanced offense as the No. 1 Penn State women’s volleyball team continued a tough stretch away from home with a 25-15, 25-19, 25-15 sweep of Iowa on Wednesday night.
McClendon notched 11 kills to go with 12 digs and four blocks, Katie Slay added eight kills on an error-free 10 swings and four blocks and seven kills each came from Ariel Scott and Megan Courtney. Micha Hancock distributed 34 assists to go with a pair of aces — including an ace on the final point of the match — and Dominique Gonzalez had 10 digs.
The Nittany Lions (21-1, 11-0) have four separate road trips set over as 12-day span, starting with a win at Ohio State on Oct. 17, a win at Michigan on Oct. 20, Wednesday’s win and a visit to No. 4 Nebraska this Sunday.
Penn State hit .367 with a 41-31 advantage in kills and a 9.5-3 edge in blocks, holding the Hawkeyes to .079 hitting.
