Big blocking effort helps Penn State men’s volleyball earn sweep

A season high in blocks helped No. 11 Penn State sweep New Jersey Institute of Technology 29-27, 25-13, 25-20 on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions (16-7, 9-1 EIVA) posted 16.5 blocks to 4.0 for the Highlanders. It helped the team hit .344 while holding NJIT to .160 hitting.

Aidan Albrecht’s 11 kills paced the offense, with nine kills and a career-high six blocks for Chris Nugent, eight kills each for Kevin Gear and Spencer Sauter, eight blocks for Gear and six blocks for Matt Seifert. Taylor Hammond gave out 36 assists and Royce Clemens picked up 10 digs.

The Nittany Lions hit the road Tuesday, visiting No. 2 Ohio State.
