Everything you missed in high school sports — and isn’t listed elsewhere in the CDT — from Tuesday:
Wrestling
BEA picks up win in opener
CLEARFIELD With the win on the line in the final bout, Bald Eagle Area heavyweight Kurt Hall pinned Clearfield’s Kevin Helsel to clinch the 40-30 victory Tuesday night in in the Eagles’ season opener.
Three other Eagles recorded falls in the team victory, including Cooper Gilham, Garrett Geidroc and David Close.
Close’s pin came in just 53 seconds.
BEA (1-0) will next compete in the King of the Mountain Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Penns Valley wins season-opening dual meet
SPRING MILLS The Rams edged Central 42-36 to open the 2017 season, winning eight bouts in all.
Baylor Shunk (113 pounds), Clayton Royer (132) and Carter Felker (182) pinned their respective opponents. Clayton Upcraft (152) and Dillon Covalt (285) won by decision, while Jason Ticknor (160), Abraham Allebach (170) and Carl Mundt (220) won by forfeit.
Penns Valley will compete in this weekend’s Sheetz Holiday Classic tournament at Mount Aloysius.
Girls’ basketball
Lady Little Lions improve to 3-0
STATE COLLEGE Elizabeth Czekaj paced the Lady Little Lions with a game-high 20 points in the 55-46 win over Central Dauphin East.
Isabelle Leazier added nine points and Kelsey Love had seven in the winning effort.
State College (3-0) will next play Harrisburg on Friday.
Poorman leads CCCA with double-double
DUNCANSVILLE Centre County Christian Academy fell to Blair County Christian School 31-24 despite a double-double effort by the Lady Bulldogs’ Cassandra Poorman.
Poorman led all scorers with 13 points while tallying 13 rebounds. Hannah Crafts chipped in six points for CCCA, as well.
Poorman, Crafts and the Lady Bulldogs return home to face Clearfield Alliance on Friday.
Boys’ basketball
Bellefonte falls to Huntingdon
BELLEFONTE The Red Raiders dropped their second straight game to open the 2017 campaign, losing to Huntingdon 51-43.
Noah Nadolsky and Caleb Rockey led Bellefonte in scoring with 14 and 13 points, respectively. But Huntingdon had three players in double-figures: Nick Gearhart (14), Nick Rigby (14) and Owen Lane (10).
The Red Raiders look to nab their first win of the season at Jersey Shore on Friday.
Tyrone routs Philipsburg-Osceola
TYRONE Despite Carson Jones’ fine showing, Philipsburg-Osceola was blown out by Tyrone 81-55.
Jones led the Mounties with 21 points, making 9 of 11 field goals and two 3-pointers. However, Tyrone senior guard Dylan Thomas outdid Jones, scoring 34 points — with seven treys.
P-O (1-1) hosts Bald Eagle Area on Friday.
Grace Prep cruises to win
BELLEVILLE Behind 23 points from Zac Sechler, Grace Prep made quick work of Belleville Mennonite 46-33.
Andrew Summers contributed eight points.
Grace Prep (1-1) will next take on Great Commission on Monday.
