The skinny: Squeezing everybody into the right spots will be one of Bellefonte’s biggest early-season challenges. Maney said the lineup will change when the PIAA awards weight allowances in January. … Shawley and Poorman are the Red Raiders’ only returning senior letterwinners and the PIAA placewinners should be tested at next week’s King of the Mountain Tournament. ... Corl and Leathers competed for the 113-pound spot as freshmen last season. Corwon a late-season wrestle-off and captured a District 6 Class AAA title. … Lewis, who didn’t wrestle last season, went 13-12 and qualified for the Northwest Regional tournament as a sophomore. ... Traxler, the first four-time state medalist in program history, is wrestling at Division-II Kutztown. Wortman, a regional champion, is wrestling at Division III Stevens (N.J.).

Coach Maney says: “In my coaching tenure, this is by far the youngest team I have ever had. With that, comes a lot of energy. At the same time, it’s nice to have two seniors in Garrett Poorman and Nick Shawley who have placed at states. They have been to the show and they set an example for our younger guys to follow.”
