High school swimming: State College sinks Hollidaysburg

STATE COLLEGE — State College’s swimming and diving teams dominated Hollidaysburg on Wednesday at the North Building, as the Lady Little Lions won 11 events in a 153-30 victory, and the Little Lions boys’ team won nine in a 127-42 win over the Tigers.

Anna Farnsworth and Kirsten Hillsley were the Lady Little Lions’ double winners in individual events, as Farnsworth won the 200-yard intermediate medley and 500 freestyle events, and Hillsley won the 200 freestyle and 100 breas tstroke. Other individual winners for State College were Fiona Vashaw (50 freestyle), Alisha Forrest (100 butterfly), Liz Browne (100 freestyle) and Sarah Koberna (100 backstroke). Farnsworth, Browne, Courtney Quinn and Forrest teamed to win the 200 medley relay, while Browne, Vashaw, Forrest and Farnsworth won the 200 freestyle relay, and the team of Browne, Cassie Cigich, Harly Stuyvesant and Juliet Garrigan teamed to win the 400 freestyle relay.

Alex Hillsley led the Little Lions boys’ squad with a pair of individual wins, including setting the new school record in the 200 IM with a time of 1 minute, 55.65 seconds. Other individual winners for the Little Lions were Carter Hardy (50 freestyle), Trevor Beahm (100 freestyle), Brad Gibble (100 backstroke) and Sam Eaton (100 breast stroke).

Hillsley, Eaton, Sean Piatt and Hardy raced to win the 200 medley relay for State College, while Kedrin Wilson, Beahm, Hillsley and Ian Schrock won the 200 freestyle relay, and the team of Fred Zhen, Beahm, Schrock and Hardy won the 400 relay event.
