SPRING MILLS With the wind howling and the April air cold and bitter, Penns Valley fell behind 5-1 early against Central in high school baseball action on Wednesday.
However, the Rams (1-0) rallied for four runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth for a season-opening 7-5 victory.
Wyatt Sharp started the rally with a leadoff double in the fifth and later scored on a Max Bair single. Sharp went 2 for 4 and scored twice for Penns Valley, who will host Huntingdon on Friday.
“That seemed to loosen us up a little,” said Penns Valley head coach Chuck Romig. “Sharp got things going with a double in the fifth and single in the sixth.”

Luke Weaver and Colton Treaster each knocked in two runs. Cody Luse shut the door with two scoreless innings late for the win.
“Central gave us a licking the last two seasons,” Romig said. “Coming back to beat them despite the elements says a lot about this team. We can be a good team. Today (could be) the first step ”
