The skinny: Penns Valley is coming off a strong season (9-1) and could be just as competitive this year. ... The Lady Rams have several returnees that could bring success. ... Senior Carolyn Darr is a former district champion in the 100- and 200-meter dashes who missed all of last season with a torn ACL. ... Fellow senior Grace Gover also should be a contributor after qualifying for the PIAA Championships in the triple and high jumps last year. ... Alyssa Limbaugh, a sophomore, and Emma Federinko, a junior, could factor in long distances. ... Juniors Nicole Bienert and Chelsea Emel will be keys in throwing events.

Coach Federinko says: “I think we’ll be competitive in the Mountain League this season. Our only pole vaulter (Mikayla Paolini) graduated so that is an area of concern at this point. We have no one with any pole-vaulting experience so that’s one area we’re looking at improving. The long jump as well. ... The kids are all excited for the season and putting forth their best effort.”
