Penns Valley got on the board first, but couldn’t crack Tyrone’s Matt Hample again as the Rams fell 5-1 on Tuesday.
Hample tossed a five-hitter, walking three and striking out six against Penns Valley (3-3). He had the Rams popping the ball up all game.
“He wasn’t overpowering, but he could throw his breaking ball for strikes,” Penns Valley coach Chuck Romig said. “He kept us off-balance and 16 of our 21 outs came on strikeouts or fly balls. We did not put any pressure on their defense.”
Cody Luse led off the game with a walk, moved to second on Taylor Collison’s single and eventually scored on Cameron Tobias’ sacrifice fly to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.

Luse pitched well (eight-hitter), but Jake Belinda came up with two big hits for the Golden Eagles. Belinda smacked a two-run single in the tird and cracked a two-run double to highlight a three-run fifth.
Penns Valley plays at Bellefonte on Thursday.
