High school softball: Philipsburg-Osceola anchors softball title games

The Class AA title game between Philipsburg-Osceola and Ligonier Valley will anchor the District 6 Softball Championship slate on Wednesday at Penn State’s Nittany Lion Softball Park.

Defending champion and second-seeded Central Mountain (14-6) will face top-seeded Mifflin County (15-5) in the Class AAAA title game, which opens play at noon.

Bellefonte (11-10) will go for its 13th District crown in 14 seasons as the third-seeded Lady Red Raiders take on fourth-seeded Hollidaysburg (10-9) at 2:30 p.m.

That contest will be followed by the Class A title game between top-seeded Claysburg-Kimmel (18-3) and No. 2 Southern Huntingdon (18-3) at 5 p.m.

The three-time defending champion and top-seeded Lady Mounties (20-1) will close out the action against No. 10 Ligonier Valley (16-3) at 7:30 p.m.
