High School tennis: State College ready for Year 2 in Mid-Penn

The State College Little Lions will look to build on its first season of being in the Mid-Penn Conference last year.

The team finished with a 9-8 record and had plenty of players to improve that record. Coach Jane Borden said there were about 30 girls that came out for the team with nine of those being freshmen.

Borden’s No. 2 singles player Juliette Greer returns after going 16-2 last year. Greer is being pressured by freshman Cathy Badding for the No. 1 singles role.

“We have a few talented young ladies,” Borden said, “If they can step into starting roles and manage their schedules, we should be fine. I think we will be ready to go and we are looking forward to a fun and challenging season.”

The Lady Little Lions are off to a 2-0 start having beaten both of their opponents 5-0.
