High School football: St. Joseph’s suffers first loss

Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy (1-1) hung with Towanda (1-1) but couldn’t keep up and fell 42-20 on Friday.

After the Knights struck first with a six-yard scoring run from Dayton Wickwire, Phil Fenstermacker led the Wolves on a scoring drive that was capped by a five-yard touchdown pass to Evan Young.

But Towanda struck quickly with a 90-yard return touchdown on the ensuing kickoff, a score Fenstermacker responded to with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Mike Jacbo.

But Huff would add three more touchdowns for Towanda — two passing and a rushing score — to put the game out of reach. Jabco added another touchdown catch from Fenstermacker in the second quarter before the Wolves went scoreless in the second half.

Nunu Buey ran for 41 yards on 10 carries while Fenstermacker finished with 16 completions on 26 attempts for 207 yards and no interceptions. Buey added 105 yards on five receptions while Jabco added 103 for the Wolves.
